Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network did some speculating. Give the mic over to ESPN Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano.
In their recent piece, Graziano and Fowler consider the options for WR-needy teams in the NFL trade market. A Vikings receiver — the bruising Jauan Jennings — sees his name listed among the potential options. As a result, the hype train is continuing to cruise along as the Vikings work through the Week 6 bye.
At the top of the receiver trade discussion is Jacksonville’s Brian Thomas. There are then some mentions of Cleveland’s Jerry Jeudy and LA’s Quentin Johnston.
Well and good. Maybe these guys get moved, maybe they don’t.
But then things turn to Mr. Jennings, the well-paid WR3 who is sitting atop just 2 catches for 9 yards with the Vikings. Such a modest output is an eyesore. Worse yet, he had a visible display of frustration last Sunday when the ball didn’t find him even though he was wide open. At the end of the receiver trade discussion, Fowler shoehorns Jauan Jennings into the mix, writing, “Also, Jauan Jennings is the forgotten man in Minnesota’s passing attack. He would fit well with any Shanahan-style scheme, which is much of the league now.”
Trading WR Jauan Jennings
New Team Acquires — Spotrac (@spotrac) October 13, 2026 In the stroke of a pen, Fowler creates a bit more buzz for a receiver swap that ships out the talented and tough veteran.
So far in 2026, the Vikings have seen a variety of skill guys go down to injury. All of Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Jordan Mason, T.J. Hockenson, and Josh Oliver have missed a minimum of a single game due to injury. Aaron Jones hasn’t missed time but he has clearly been working through some bumps and bruises.
Does it make sense to lessen the depth?
But then there’s a different angle to consider: GM Nolan Teasley wasn’t the GM when Jennings got signed. Rob Brzezinski was still functioning as the fill-in GM, constructing a contract that’s aging poorly across the opening five games of 2026. Maybe Minnesota will feel okay with moving on since there’s unlikely to be unbreakable loyalty with the WR3. At the Spotrac tweet above clarifies, shipping out Jennings clears out some precious cap space alongside a roster spot. There would then be an added draft pick to use if Teasley wants to add.
Jauan Jennings, 29, is working on a single-season contract. He has been involved in four of the five Vikings games, missing in Week 2 due to needing to address a personal matter. The Vikings receiver has soaked up 201 snaps, working out to 76% of the total on offense in his four games.
He has only been targeted five times. Last week alone, the Vikings’ TE3/4 Gavin Bartholomew got targeted six times.
The NFL trade deadline arrives on Tuesday, November 10th.
