It has been a tumultuous offseason for veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs. But – with the NFL regular season opener just over a month away – he finally has a home for 2026. The former Maryland Terrapin signed a one-year, $12 million contract to join the Washington Commanders after a single season with the New England Patriots.
When Stefon Diggs signed with New England last season, folks weren’t entirely sure what they were going to see.
Despite being 31 and coming off of a torn ACL in his lone season with the Houston Texans, Diggs returned to the 1,000-yard club with Drake Maye to go with four touchdowns in 2025 to help the Patriots return to the Super Bowl.
Between Diggs and Terry McLaurin, quarterback Jayden Daniels has two savvy pass-catchers with pedigrees of elite production at his disposal. While both are likely on the tail-ends of their careers, they could be exactly what Daniels needs to return to the form that won him Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2024.
