Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
Jalen Hurts interview with Mike Garafolo and Brian Baldinger – NFL Network
MIKE GARAFOLO: How about this receiver room? We know DeVonta Smith, what he’s done over the course of his career, we know he’s going to produce. Everybody’s saying, ‘Who’s the number two?’ And I don’t even know if you look at it that way. Maybe it’s two, three, four, and that’s all one kind of cluster to you. But you’ve got some veterans who have been around, [Dontayvion] Wicks has got the cheat code because he’s been in this offense before. Who’s really emerged and opened your eyes there? … JALEN HURTS: I think Darius Cooper has done a really good job. I think Darius Cooper has done a really good job. He’s always been a big body, physical, strong hands guy. But just to see how he’s transitioned going into Year 2, definitely excited for him. Along with the rest of them.
Eagles Training Camp Practice Notes: Jalen Hurts looked sharp – BGN
JALEN HURTS UPDATE: Hurts looked pretty sharp today! QB1 completed all of his attempts in 7-on-7 … save for one dropped pass by E.J. Jenkins that hit the tight end in his hands. Hurts connected with Dallas Goedert over the middle with a ball that was placed just over the flyswatter dummy that’s designed to simulate a leaping defensive lineman. Hurts threw a perfect pass with anticipation into a tight window along the left sideline down the field to Dontayvion Wicks. Unlike earlier in his career, Hurts also doesn’t really take off running in 7-on-7, which is refreshing to see since that’s a useless thing to do in a pure passing drill.
7 standout players from NFL training camp so far – SB Nation
Jalyx Hunt, EDGE — Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles have so much defensive talent, and while Jalyx Hunt made a strong impression in limited time during the 2025 season, he’s really asserting himself now as a player to watch. Hunt has been blowing past the Eagles’ stout offensive line in practice and looking every bit of a double-digit sack guy, which is huge after Philly lost Jaelan Phillips in free agency.
Seven takeaways from Vic Fangio’s Wednesday training camp press conference – PhillyVoice
Vic likes what he has seen from Andrew Mukuba mentally so far. “It’s just experience, knowledge and know-how of the defense, Fangio said of the difference between Mukuba this year and last year. “You might look and say, ‘Man, he looks quicker. He’s in better shape. This, that.’ I think it’s just the thought process [speeding] up, comfortability with the defense and what he has to do. He’s in a little bit better shape too.” #JimmySays: I haven’t often seen Mukuba beaten through the first six practices. He is having a sneaky-good camp, in sort of a quiet way.
How Eli Stowers is dealing with a slow start in his first NFL training camp – NBCSP
One of the most important skills for a young rookie trying to find his way in the NFL is dealing with frustration. Dealing with disappointment. Dealing with the rough days that inevitably occur. For Eli Stowers, it’s all a part of football. “It’s always a challenge when something bad goes down, and you just have to continuously learn how to get back up, not worry about the last play and continue on to the next play,” Stowers said after practice Wednesday. I’m just out here trying to learn, continuously learn every single day. And I’m really appreciative of my coaches so far just trying to help me get going at this level and I’m super excited for what’s going to come.”
Eagles training camp: Markel Bell works through ‘growing pains’ filling in for Lane Johnson – The Athletic
The third-round rookie’s progress appears to be back on track. Bell initially filled in at right tackle during OTAs for Lane Johnson, who regularly misses the voluntary workouts to train on his own. Fred Johnson’s Saturday spot “start” suggested Bell still needed to improve. Bell said Lane Johnson told him “the other week” that there would be “growing pains” in learning the system and playing right tackle. Bell had only played left tackle in college. He acknowledged “it’s a whole different ballgame over there” and that he’s had to adjust against a defense that has ranked in the top nine in terms of EPA in both years under coordinator Vic Fangio.
More than a week into Eagles training camp, Jalen Hurts and the new-look offense are ‘calibrating’ – Inquirer
The new-look offense under first-year coordinator Sean Mannion is still in the early days of installation. While it got the best of Vic Fangio’s defense Monday, the defense has the upper hand so far through six days of practice. Wednesday’s practice was a run-heavy day, and it was a shorter practice compared to Tuesday’s session that ran nearly two hours. For Hurts, Wednesday was another chance to “continue to take strides.” It isn’t supposed to be easy to install a new offense against one of the best defenses in the NFL. “I like to think of the term calibrating,” Hurts said. “This is a time where we’re kind of putting it together and finding out who we are. We’ve got a lot of new pieces, an entirely new approach and MO, philosophy, to our offense. Being able to put that together and make it our own, I’m excited about where we are.”
Spadaro: Marcus Epps takes Andrew Mukuba under his wing – PhiladelphiaEagles.com
There has always been, in many instances, a big brother/little brother element in the Eagles’ locker room, a key to the team’s success through the years. When the veterans on the team care enough and are selfless enough to show younger players the way, transitions happen, careers are grown, seamless production takes place. Zach Ertz to Dallas Goedert … Jason Kelce to Cam Jurgens … Fletcher Cox to Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter … Darius Slay to Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. The list goes on and on, and it is a huge reason why the Eagles have been a championship contender for so many seasons. There are similar stories happening now, and one of them is Marcus Epps and Andrew Mukuba. Epps is the eight-year veteran whose career has never been on a linear path – a sixth-round draft pick in Minnesota in 2019 who was released midway through his rookie season, picked up by the Eagles and a contributing player on the defense through the 2022 campaign, another move to Las Vegas for 2023 and 2024 before suffering a torn ACL, signed in New England for five months in early 2025, added to the Eagles’ practice squad last season, promoted to the 53-man roster in late September … A lot of moves. Nothing given. Everything earned.
Lane Johnson misses fourth straight Eagles practice – PFT
The Eagles are practicing without right tackle Lane Johnson for the fourth straight day on Wednesday. Johnson has been excused from practice for what is described as a non-injury related reason. There’s been no word from the team about when Johnson will be back, but Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that he is expected to return soon.
2026 NFL season: Future Hall of Famers from all 32 teams – ESPN
Keep it up: QB Jalen Hurts, CB Quinyon Mitchell. I thought the Prescott Hall of Fame discussion was going to be tough. Hurts has obviously had rough points at times over the past few years, but he has also done two things the Hall of Fame loves: play quarterback and win a lot of games. Hurts is 57-25 as a starter and has two trips to the Super Bowl, winning the game’s MVP award when the Eagles blew out the Chiefs. He also finished second in regular-season MVP balloting to Patrick Mahomes in 2022, with a late-season shoulder injury costing Hurts a chance at taking home the hardware. The 2026 season feels critical for Hurts, who lost A.J. Brown during the offseason before a move to a new offensive system under Sean Mannion. If he continues to play at his existing level and make a deep playoff run every few years, though, Hurts shouldn’t have trouble reaching the Hall of Fame.
Vic Fangio Remains a Rob Thomson Defender – Crossing Broad
The question was “what do you think of the Arraez trade?” It’s funny because Fangio answers that question and then segues into ripping Castellanos, Strahm, Bader, and Walker. That was unprompted. Nobody asked about those guys. If you give Vic the opportunity to talk about the Phillies, you never know where he’s gonna take it. That’s the thing about older Italian guys; they do not care. They’ll be out here one week dropping Fauci jokes and then the next week they’ll randomly bring up Nick Castellanos and Taijuan Walker.
Ogbo Okoronkwo reunites with Raheem Morris; signs with the 49ers – Niners Nation
The San Francisco 49ers worked out Ogbo Okoronkwo this past Sunday. On Wednesday morning, the team officially reunited Okoronkwo with Raheem Morris. The former fifth-round pick out of the 2018 NFL Draft has played with some of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL, including Morris, DeMeco Ryans, Jim Schwartz, and Vic Fangio. [BLG Note: Okoronkwo logged four defensive snaps with the Eagles last season before suffering a season-ending injury.]
Christian Parker takeaways so far at Oxnard – Blogging The Boys
The biggest takeaway has been how quickly players have embraced Parker’s coaching style. Rather than creating a passive practice environment, Parker has encouraged constant competition between the offense and defense. Players have described practices as iron sharpening iron, with the defense feeding off the challenge of facing Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens every day. That competitive atmosphere has noticeably increased the energy level of camp and has created an environment where every rep matters.
Washington Commanders are set to sign veteran receiver Stefon Diggs – Hogs Haven
The Commanders are reportedly set to sign veteran receiver Stefon Diggs to a one-year contract, a league source confirmed to Hogs Haven. The deal is reportedly worth up to $12 million. That will bring the DMV native and University of Maryland product back home.
NY Giants training camp, practice No. 7: Odell Beckham has his best day – Big Blue View
Beckham — This was Beckham’s best day of camp. He caught passes from Jaxson Dart, Jameis Winston, and Brandon Allen, and showed some burst turning a couple of those receptions upfield. Yes, Beckham received some first-team reps on Wednesday, the second straight day that has happened. I refuse to fuss about that, though. Jalin Hyatt and Xavier Gipson also got first-team reps.
Aaron Donald has official ‘workout’ with Rams – Turf Show Times
For the first time in two years, Aaron Donald is officially involved in Rams training camp. Donald, who has been mulling a return from retirement over the last couple of months, worked out with the team on Wednesday. The “workout” was submitted by the team to the NFL, per league rules, because Donald was using team equipment at their facilities at Loyola Marymount University. It’s not a return yet. But it is the closest thing fans have had so far as proof that Donald has one foot back in the door.
