Philadelphia already had a top-half pass rush last season, with all meaningful contributors returning, before dealing a pair of third-round picks for Vikings standout edge rusher Jonathan Greenard. This unit is led by elite interior rusher Jalen Carter, with Greenard’s elite length and get-off giving Philadelphia a very good No. 2 in the hierarchy and a stable of solid to above-average pieces behind them. Jalyx Hunt projects as the third-best option, while Moro Ojomo offers pocket-pushing power that helped him finish 11th among interior rushers in TPR in 2025. This is one of the deepest units in the NFL and firmly a top-five group entering 2026.

Makai Lemon hasn’t done much so far, but as noted in the first paragraph, we’re only three days into camp. Would it be a lot cooler if he was lighting it up? Sure! But it’s pretty normal for rookie receivers to take a little time to get their sea legs in camp. In DeVonta Smith’s first training camp, he sprained his MCL in the fourth practice, and then missed the next eight practices. Before the injury, he had probably shown a little more than Lemon has so far, but he too was mostly quiet. Lemon has talent. He’ll make some plays. If after the first 10 or so practices he’s still just not making catches then it would be a much more reasonable cause for concern.
Newcomer Dontayvion Wicks already earning trust from Jalen Hurts – NBCSP
After just a few days of training camp, the biggest highlight play belongs to receiver Dontayvion Wicks. It wouldn’t have happened without trust. On Day 2 of camp, Jalen Hurts rolled to his left and never set his feet before tossing up a 50-50 ball to Wicks, who had to climb the ladder and secure the catch through double coverage from Jakorian Bennett and Cole Wisniewski. “Just trust. Building that chemistry and trust,” Wicks said. “[Hurts] just coming out, he don’t see nobody, just throw it up and trusting me to go get that and that’s what I did.”

Wide receivers (6): DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Makai Lemon, Hollywood Brown, Darius Cooper, Elijah Moore. Cut: Johnny Wilson, Danny Gray, Britain Covey, Quez Watkins, Erik Ezukanma, Samori Toure. The top four players should be considered locks. Cooper is competing with Wilson for a role that Nick Sirianni described as doing the “dirty work.” Keeping both seems redundant. Cooper currently has the edge in that competition. Moore is a wild card. If the Eagles decide to go with just five here, he likely would be the odd man out. Gray had the play of the day Saturday, but there’s a lot of traffic ahead of him.

The departure of Reed Blankenship in free agency left a starting spot open in defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s secondary. Cooper DeJean will move from nickel to safety in base packages and probably will be paired with second-year player Andrew Mukuba. Marcus Epps and Michael Carter II are vying for starting spots when the Eagles are in sub packages, which is most of the time. In the early stages of camp, Epps and Mukuba have been paired the most frequently, but Fangio has been rotating players to get different looks.

Hollywood Brown feels it. He is running free and has his explosiveness. The burst he displays on the football field is special, and that’s part of the joy Brown has in this 2026 Eagles Training Camp. “I’m faster than I’ve ever been. I feel like I’m playing that way, for sure,” he said. “It’s an awesome feeling. I had a Lis Franc injury in my rookie year and that is the kind of injury that is a career-ender, they say. It’s cleaned out, I took some time to rest in this offseason and I’m seeing the benefits of that. “I’m playing more freely. I’m having fun. Enjoying what we’re doing out here.” Brown, signed in the offseason during the free agency process, is part of a diverse and talented receiving room. It is early, far too early for a hot take, so we will leave that for a larger sample size, but Brown is moving around at receiver in the Eagles’ offense. We’re still in a bit of a discovery period and that’s the way it is in every NFL Training Camp.

There was always going to be a learning curve for Eagles wide receiver Makai Lemon, their first-round draft pick. And that’s even more the case for tight end Eli Stowers, the Eagles’ second-round draft pick. Neither has stood out during the Eagles’ first three training camp practices. So far, it seems like the Eagles’ best rookie has been third-round pick Markel Bell, the massive 6-foot-9, 346-pound offensive tackle.

MEKHI BECTON. Right guard has been a problem spot for the Seahawks for some time. Seattle is expected to run it back with returning starter Anthony Bradford, who is likely to be pushed by fifth-rounder Beau Stephens. Becton has the experience to be an instant upgrade as a stop-gap until Stephens can find his way to bona fide starter status or another year goes by with a better chance to find a suitable starter in the draft. Other options: 49ers, Cardinals, Eagles.
49ers sign RB Khalil Herbert and former Colts 6th-round edge rusher; waive Eli Apple – Niners Nation
The San Francisco 49ers have signed running back Khalil Herbert to a one-year deal. They’ve also added Titus Leo, a 6’3”, 245-pounder who was drafted in the sixth round by the Colts in the 2023 NFL Draft. Leo has only appeared in four games during his tenure, most recently appearing on the Eagles’ practice squad in October 2025. We knew the 49ers were working out various defensive linemen. It was reported the team had a tryout with Ogbo Okonkwo, but ultimately went younger. Leo tested well at his Pro Day back in 2023, running a 4.69 40-yard dash, with a 129” vertical jump — an elite number. [BLG Note: Okoronkwo was on the Eagles last year. And Herbert participated in the Eagles’ 2026 rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.]

Cowboys linked to trade for All-Pro LB Jordyn Brooks. The Cowboys selected Jaishawn Barham in the third round, and he’s been flashing so far at camp. Plus, they added Dee Winters during the offseason. They will battle it out at middle linebacker, but Dallas could be interested in another. According to Bryan Broaddus, the Cowboys might be looking at trading for All-Pro middle linebacker Jordyn Brooks of the Miami Dolphins. This is shocking because Miami signed Brooks to a three-year extension worth $51.3 million with $35 million guaranteed recently. However, the idea isn’t as wild as some would think. His base salary over the first three years of his deal up to a little over $27 million which isn’t a lot at all. The cap hit for Brooks in 2026 if he was traded would be $6.16 million, which is minimal as well. Plus, the Dolphins would only take on $4.95 million in dead money if they dealt him. This makes the trade extremely doable. It’s probably a longshot, and a guy like veteran Bobby Wagner is more realistic. With that said, it’s something to monitor.

JAYDEN DANIELS. This is the guy everyone wants to hear about. Is the third-year quarterback under center more often? How many designed bootlegs is offensive coordinator David Blough running him on? Are his reads quick, accurate and decisive? Day 1 was a mixed bag, with the defense being significantly ahead of the offense (which is to be expected early on). From most reports, Jayden started off erratically but got better as the practice went on. Day 2 got better, with some really accurate passes in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 red-zone work. The tempo of the offense was said to be a lot better and ball placement was excellent. Day 3, the first practice open to the fans, was easily his best day. David Harrison guesstimated he had around a 75% completion rate during team periods (with a few drops scattered in there as well).

[Change: Cambre and Hodgins switch places]. I still don’t have a good handle on who leads the competition for the last roster spot or two at this position. Berrios had a good start to camp. Beckham hasn’t done much, but he has practiced every day. I switched Cambre and Hodgins because of special teams value.
