Five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Joey Bosa is one of the top remaining free agents in the market deep into the NFL offseason. After being released by the Los Angeles Chargers last year, Bosa was picked up by the Buffalo Bills in a one-year deal that produced mixed results on the field.
Aaron Schatz Urges Bears to Sign Joey Bosa
In his latest article exploring the offseason deals that NFL teams could indulge in to improve their rosters ahead of next season, ESPN’s Aaron Schatz made the case for the Chicago Bears to sign Bosa.
“You’re going to notice a trend in the NFC North, where all four teams could probably use another veteran pass rusher,” Schatz wrote. “The Bears got 4.5 sacks out of Austin Booker in 10 games last season, but Dayo Odeyingbo was disappointing with just a single sack in eight games after signing a big contract to come over from Indianapolis.”
“Bosa had a 12.2% pass rush win rate last season, 26th among qualifying edge rushers, to go along with five sacks for Buffalo,” Schatz added. “He has played most of his career with his hand on the ground, so he’s probably the best fit for Chicago’s 4-3 base out of the top three available veteran pass rushers.”
Bosa made a costly mistake in the Bills’ overtime playoff loss to the Denver Broncos, but he also led the NFL in forced fumbles, dominating opposing quarterbacks in his sole season in Buffalo.

Bosa Is Also Linked With His Brother’s Team
The Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay linked the San Francisco 49ers with a move for the former Bills edge rusher to reunite him with his brother, fellow defensive end Nick Bosa, in the trenches.
“While Bosa’s availability may be a bit puzzling, it shouldn’t be long before a team like the San Francisco 49ers picks him up,” Kay wrote. “The Niners know better than anyone that depth, especially in the defensive trenches, is critical for success in the modern NFL.”

“San Francisco managed to weather a rash of injuries last year to punch a playoff ticket and reach the Divisional Round, but still needs to reinforce the edge again after losing Clelin Ferrell, Yetur Gross-Matos and Bryce Huff this offseason.”
Bosa managed 29 total tackles (17 solo), five sacks, five forced fumbles, and two passes defended for the Bills last season, earning a PFSN EDGE Impact score of 78.7, good for No. 38 in the league.
