The LA Lakers initially announced the One Piece collaboration on December 20 with a picture of Luffy in a Lakers uniform performing a slam dunk.
Together with the LA Lakers One Piece Evening the Boston Crimson Sox baseball group announced their second One Piece Theme Day on February 19. The baseball group beforehand collaborated in August 2024 for a One Piece Day. The occasion celebrated the One Piece anime’s twenty fifth anniversary and featured a cosplay, Jersey Road pregame efficiency by the Magnificent Hazard band, and a limited-edition Monkey D. Luffy bobblehead “repping a Crimson Sox uniform.”
