Four Philadelphia Eagles transactions were included on the official NFL personnel notice from Tuesday, October 6. Here’s an overview:
- RB Tank Bigsby was placed on injured reserve.
- LB Anfernee Orji was released from the practice squad.
- LB Chance Campbell was released from the practice squad injured list with an injury settlement.
- C James Brockermeyer had a free agent visit with Eagles.
Let’s sort through this news on a player-by-player basis.
TANK BIGSBY
Bigsby to IR was first reported on Monday evening. With Saquon Barkley dealing with a hamstring injury, Bigsby likely would’ve started at running back in his absence. Instead, Bigsby will miss at least four games as a result of undergoing core muscle surgery. Those games:
- Week 5 at Jacksonville Jaguars
- Week 6 vs. Carolina Panthers
- Week 7 vs. Dallas Cowboys
- Week 8 at Washington Commanders
He might miss a little longer considering he’s reportedly set to be back in “six weeks or shorter.”
With Barkley injured and Bigsby on IR, the Eagles currently have one running back on the active roster: Will Shipley. They do have three running backs on the practice squad: Dameon Pierce, Carson Steele, and Jaydon Blue. I’d expect Pierce to be the first man up from that trio.
Bigsby to IR and Lane Johnson retiring (not yet on the official transaction log) means the Eagles are set to have two open roster spots.
ANFERNEE ORJI
The Eagles originally signed Orji to their practice squad on October 1. Now he’s gone. Perhaps his departure signals that Zack Baun will be ready to return from his concussion this weekend.
CHANCE CAMPBELL
The extent of the injury that landed Campbell on the practice squad injured list is unclear. And now he’s gone after previously being temporarily elevated to the roster for the Eagles’ Week 3 game.
JAMES BROCKERMEYER
Brockermeyer came to Philly for a visit and the Eagles are signing him to their practice squad, according to a report from Matt Zenitz.
Brockermeyer is a 24-year-old rookie who signed with the Atlanta Falcons after the 2027 NFL Draft. The Falcons waived him in late August only to bring him back on the practice squad for a couple weeks … before cutting him again.
Dating back to college, Brockermeyer has exclusively played center. The Eagles apparently wanted more depth at that spot. Cam Jurgens could very well miss Week 5 due to a concussion. And he wasn’t playing very well when he was healthy.
Here’s a scouting report from Brockeymere from NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein:
Undersized center prospect with NFL bloodlines, admirable grit and above-average intelligence. Brockermeyer has the technique and core strength to fight as a downhill blocker but his impact in the run game is likely to be limited to occupying/neutralizing. In protection, his success rate climbs against pure bull-rushers thanks to his hand usage and protection know-how. However, a lack of length will limit his ability to redirect athletic rushers if they find his edge. Brockermeyer was outstanding at the Senior Bowl, but he’s a one-position player, so he’ll have to fight hard for a roster spot.
For what it’s worth, Brockermeyer ranked 39th out of 53 centers graded by Pro Football Focus during the 2026 preseason. Willie Lampkin was first!
Fun fact: Brockermeyer was Markel Bell’s teammate at Miami in 2025.
MORE ROSTER MOVES COMING
The Eagles will likely announce some more transactions on Wednesday, which will be the team’s first practice ahead of Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
