It’s his sixth season as the Philadelphia Eagles’ head coach, now longer than any stop in his NFL coaching career, and the stories are beginning to repeat themselves. How many times can he preach his “tough, detailed, together” mantra before it feels like a rock star playing the greatest hits on tour? That’s why Sirianni logged into the artificial intelligence chatbot on a Monday in June — a program he knew so little about that he couldn’t get the name right — and began his research with a prompt: “Give me a great relentless effort true sports story.”This rabbit hole is how Sirianni learned about Anthony Robles, an Arizona State wrestler born with one leg who won a national championship in 2011. Sirianni planned to incorporate the anecdote into a speech to the team, a way to tell an old message in a new way. […] “We’ve created stories, things that people are looking up on ChatGP — fill me in on the letters,” Sirianni said in June during a roundtable interview. “What keeps it more fresh than what we’ve done?” Or what they’re about to do. That seems to be at the crux of Sirianni in Year 6, with the Eagles reporting to training camp on July 28.

Nick Sirianni is in a relaxed state of mind as his Philadelphia Eagles wrap up their offseason program. He is in the Jefferson Health Training Complex auditorium answering questions from reporters who cover the team every day, who have been dug in with the Eagles for each of Sirianni’s five seasons here. Sirianni’s core, what he’s all about and what he cares about the most, is the requested topic here: How to win big in the NFL. How to win it all. Sirianni has won big – postseason appearances in each of his five seasons – and he has won it all – an NFC Championship in the 2022 season and a win in Super Bowl LIX in the 2024 campaign – and he knows the most important component and it is the piece that he works on every … single … day. “How do you come together as a team? You come together as a football team through shared hardships. So, you get that, right, through the offseason,” Sirianni said, gaining passion. “You come together as a football team through building trust of consistently doing what you’re supposed to do. Consistently on a daily basis. And you come together as a football team through the time that you put in with each other. And that time, sometimes it feels like it’s invisible progress. It’s like, am I really making progress here, but you have to keep putting it in, knowing that at some point it’s going to show itself up. Guys are working really, really, really hard to come together as a team because we know how important that is at the end of the day.”

Flights were canceled, which meant new Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, a few weeks into the job and prior to his family making its move east, was facing a delay returning to the office. It was a few days into free agency, and NFL draft prep was in full swing. Mannion could have picked up the phone and called his new boss, Nick Sirianni, to tell him his return trip to Philadelphia would be delayed. Instead, he got in the car and started driving the 900-plus mile route to his new home. Sirianni called his new offensive coordinator to check in and was surprised to learn that Mannion was five hours away. “This dude loves football and he loves to work,” Sirianni said last month during an extended interview session with Eagles beat reporters. “I’ve really enjoyed being around him. “I think we think — about everybody — ‘Man, he’s just got it.’ But it doesn’t happen — whether it’s a player, whether it’s Sean — without this obsession to get better. Sean has this obsession to get better, this obsession with his craft, which is why he’s excelled in this profession and I’m really looking forward to continuing to work with him.”

There has been a palpable enthusiasm surrounding DeVonta Smith stepping into a more featured role than he already occupied in the Eagles offense as a result of the departure of A.J. Brown this offseason, and Sirianni suggested as much a few days after Brown was traded to the New England Patriots back in June. “DeVonta, he’s a special player that can continue to get even more targets than he has,” Sirianni said. “He’s so capable of doing even more. And he’s just such a good football player.” As I wrote earlier this offseason, there’s internal belief that Smith could be among the league’s most productive receivers if he creeps closer to the 150-target mark that the likes of Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Puka Nacua surpassed in their respective offenses last season. Smith finished last year with 113 targets, 77 catches and 1,008 receiving yards. He had a career-high 136 targets in 2022 and caught 95 of them for 1,196 receiving yards. But his yards per route run in 2025 might be the most instructive when assessing the Eagles’ case for optimism. On the 51 routes he ran with Brown off the field last year (admittedly a small sample size), his 2.67 yards/route run ranked fourth in the NFL among qualifying receivers.

Nick Sirianni doesn’t typically like singling out players for playing well in practices, but he made a rare exception for one in an interview ahead of Eagles training camp. “There are so many guys working their asses off that I never want to be like, ‘Oh, this guy looks good, and I didn’t mention this guy.’ But Riq Woolen, I’m really excited to have him,” Sirianni said. “And I feel like every day I’m like, ‘Wow, that was an impressive play.’ “We can get so caught up in wow plays. What wins is consistency. But the wow plays are fun to watch. And like, he has a lot of wow plays and he is consistent. He’s being consistent with that. And so I’m really, really looking forward to him and Quinyon and Coop kind of roaming back there. “And Riq works his butt off, and you’re not supposed to look like that when you play corner. Like he just looks the part. I have these guys throughout the NFL of like, ‘Hey that dude didn’t look real.’ You look at somebody like – I remember I used to think that way when I saw Calvin Johnson as a receiver. I always thought that of Julio Jones. You ain’t supposed to look like that. And I feel like that with Riq. Like, you ain’t supposed to look like that at that position. He’s freaky. And yeah, excited about that.”
Eagles schedule preview: Panthers – BGN
The 2025 Panthers were not really interested in actually trying to play football. The 2026 team doesn’t seem to be either. Tet McMillian was the only Panther with more than 400 receiving yards, Carolina’s biggest additions to their WR room were John Metchie and his 686 career yards, and a Josh Heupel WR. Devin Lloyd and Jaelen Phillips (when he’s healthy) should improve the defense, but this is an offense that scored fewer than 14 points seven times last year. You’d need the 1985 Bears defense to win with that kind of output. While the Panthers did pick up Bryce Young’s fifth year option, putting him under contract for 2027 for a guaranteed $26M, they are–correctly–not expected to sign him to a contract extension this offseason.
Changes – Iggles Blitz
Handling change goes beyond the GM. It takes a whole organizational commitment. You need the college scouting staff to find young talent to replenish the roster. You need good pro scouts to make sure free agency is another good source of outside talent. Ownership has to be willing to spend money, on both staff and players. You also need the coaching staff to embrace young and/or new players. The Eagles check all of these boxes. Some people are concerned this offseason because the Eagles lost AJ Brown, Jaelan Phillips, Nakobe Dean, Reed Blankenship and Jahan Dotson. Roseman anticipated the players moving on and had contingency plans for them. That doesn’t mean all the moves will work as planned. Roseman has been around long enough to know there will be misses. Andre Dillard didn’t work out as Jason Peters replacement. Bryce Huff didn’t pan out as a difference-making pass rusher. You can’t be afraid to miss

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES — TE Eli Stowers, CB/S Michael Carter II. Our second-round rookie, Stowers offers athleticism as a “move” tight end to supplement an underwhelming group of wide receivers. The Vanderbilt product caught 62 passes for 769 yards in his final year at school, winning the Mackey Award in the process. He’s not going to be an every-down tight end in Philadelphia’s offense (or this Team Backup one), but Stowers could be a valuable playmaker before taking over for Dallas Goedert as the Eagles’ starter in 2027. Carter emerged as a solid slot cornerback for the Jets under Robert Saleh and earned a three-year, $30.8 million contract extension before the 2024 season. But he fell out of favor with Aaron Glenn and was traded to the Eagles last season. He took a pay cut to stay in Philly, where he might compete to take over at safety for the departed Reed Blankenship. He’ll stick in the slot for us, though.
Eagles 2026 most important list: Jalen Hurts – NBCSP
Jalen Hurts. The quarterback is always going to be first on this list. But this year it was an absolute no-brainer. It’s a big year for Jalen Hurts and the Eagles’ offense. That doesn’t mean it’s a make-or-break season. It doesn’t mean the Eagles are going to be ready to move on if things don’t go well. But there are a lot of changes coming under new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion are there are legitimate questions about how all this is going to work. Hurts is entering Year 7 in the NFL and Year 6 as the Eagles’ full-time starting quarterback. As much as Hurts has yearned for consistency in an offensive coordinator and play caller, he’ll have another new one in Mannion this season. And the offense is expected to look a lot different. Perhaps the most encouraging thing from the spring, though, were the early indications that the bond between Mannion and Hurts is strong. They seem to enjoy working with one another. Hurts’ comments about Mannion were notable:

Philadelphia Eagles lineman Landon Dickerson and his wife, Brooke, brought their viral DIY platform to life Sunday, hosting a handson workshop for local children at Billy Penn Studios in Kensington. The “Dickerson DIY Workshop” drew families interested in the couple’s growing socialmedia presence, where their homeimprovement videos routinely receive tens of thousands of views. The workshop featured activities including birdhouse building, terrarium making and rugtufting. The Dickersons said they hoped the projects would inspire confidence, curiosity and independence in young participants while giving them a chance to create something of their own.

Two years after multiple NFL stars had their residences burglarized while they weren’t home, the home of Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was invaded on Saturday while he and his family were inside. In addition to trying to solve the case, the authorities will attempt to determine whether the incident is connected to any of the criminal groups that target athletes.

Ryan Flournoy. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens understandably get a lot of love, but there is another wide receiver on the Cowboys who could have a breakout type season for the team in Ryan Flournoy. Sometimes things simply shake out weirdly when it comes to pass-catching options. Things work in a certain way, rhythms fall into place, and you blink your eyes and all of a sudden Laurent Robinson is having a season where he catches 11 touchdowns. Robinson is a great example of the way things can happen, but we all feel better about Flournoy’s prospect in the Cowboys offense than Jacksonville did with Laurent in theirs by the end. Flournoy could be the primary beneficiary of coverage going elsewhere, and given the fantasy football nature of the NFL, he could quickly become more well-known than he is currently.

The intangibles are there as well. Kaliakmanis has a high football IQ and understanding of the game and called his own pass protections on the field. He has the ability to go through full-field progressions if given the necessary time. Athan is considered a plus culture fit, and the Commanders decided to bring him in for a Top 30 visit. That is where he sold the staff on his intangibles, coachability, and potential upside. In fact, he was the team’s third three-voter caucus pick by the Commanders’ war room. There was enough there that, with Kaliakmanis visiting six teams in the last eight days before the draft, the team decided not to risk losing him in the scrum for undrafted free agents. Why did the Washington Commanders draft Athan Kaliakmanis? As Adam Peters explained to him following the selection, the quarterback had convinced them there was no other choice.
Why can’t MetLife Stadium have grass for NFL games? – Big Blue View
It had to be galling to New York Giants (and Jets) fans when MetLife Stadium was announced as one of the venues for the 2026 World Cup. Not because fans are protective of their beautiful stadium (which MetLife most certainly is not), but because soccer’s governing body FIFA requires that all matches be played on a grass pitch rather than artificial turf. Giants fans have been pleading for years for the Mara and Tisch families to replace the infamous turf at MetLife, author of Malik Nabers’ season-ending ACL injury in Game 4 of the 2025 season, with real grass, as so many other NFL stadiums have. It’s fallen on deaf ears…until this year. Money talks, and for several more days, we will see MetLife in all its natural grass glory until the final match between Spain and Argentina is over.
