The Philadelphia Eagles are re-signing undrafted rookie free agent wide receiver Brandon Hayes, according to his agency, Quattro Sports Group (hat tip to @DiBonaNFL).
Hayes originally participated in the Eagles’ rookie minicamp on a tryout basis in early May before being signed by the team ahead of their first media-attended OTA practice on May 27. Hayes was then waived on June 6 ahead of the Eagles’ two-day mandatory minicamp to make room on the roster for the Zion Wilson signing.
With DeVonta Smith (hamstring), Makai Lemon (hamstring), and Britain Covey (injury unclear) recently getting banged up, the Eagles found themselves in need of more receiver depth. Signing Hayes gives them an extra practice body in training camp who has some level of familiarity with their system. He will help to fill reps.
As of this writing, the Eagles have yet to officially announce this move and any corresponding roster news. Stay tuned for updates.
