UFC heavyweight prospect Anthony Wint isn’t wasting time rising through the ranks in the promotion’s most dangerous division.
Former NFL football player Anthony Wint is one of the best heavyweight prospects in UFC history, and he wasted little time making an impact in his debut. Less than two weeks after earning a UFC contract via Dana White’s Contender Series, Wint submitted Terrance Chatman in his promotional debut at UFC Sacramento.
UFC 332 in Salt Lake City features a women’s flyweight title headliner between Natalia Silva and Wang Cong. The fight came to fruition after UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko suffered an injury and vacated the belt.
Since the Silva vs. Cong announcement, fight fans have labeled UFC 332 one of the worst major events in the promotion’s history. Despite the lack of star power in the main event, UFC 332 will feature Wint’s return in another intriguing heavyweight matchup.
Anthony Wint added to UFC 332 card with widely criticized headliner
As announced on Tuesday night’s DWCS broadcast, Wint will fight Lucas Armand (6-0) at UFC 332 next month in Salt Lake City. Armand will make his UFC debut after he was eyed for a future DWCS event.
Wint earned a UFC contract by knocking out Matt Adams last month at the UFC Apex. Before his recent UFC success, Wint earned wins in Fury FC and Xtreme FC.
Wint made a name for himself as a professional football player before making the full-time transition to Mixed Martial Arts. After four successful seasons at Florida International, Wint signed with the New York Jets for the 2018 season as a backup linebacker.
UFC 332 also features the returns of Payton Talbott, Ateba Gautier, and King Green. If he’s victorious at UFC 332, Wint could be on the verge of earning a Top 15 spot in the heavyweight division.
