Let’s run through a Philadelphia Eagles-focused rooting guide for all of the Week 1 games.
EAGLES GAME
WASHINGTON COMMANDERS at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: We won’t see the Eagles in action until 4:25 PM Eastern on Sunday. But a win over the Washington Commanders will be well worth the wait. Go Birds.
NFC EAST
DALLAS COWBOYS at NEW YORK GIANTS: The Cowboys are obviously the bigger threat to the Eagles at this point in time. Root for the Giants.
NFC PLAYOFF PICTURE
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS: This year’s NFL Kickoff Game is a rematch of Super Bowl LX. While I imagine there will be Philly fans rooting against A.J. Brown, the Pats winning here is preferable with the Seahawks being a threat to the Eagles getting a top seed in the same conference. Root for the Patriots.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS at LOS ANGELES RAMS: This Thursday matchup between two NFC West rivals in Australia should be interesting. The Rams have the shortest odds to win the Super Bowl this season, so, they stand out as the bigger threat. Even though the Eagles have had an easier team beating LA than San Fran. Root for the 49ers.
CHICAGO BEARS at CAROLINA PANTHERS: The Panthers aren’t scaring anybody. The Bears have a higher ceiling. Root for the Panthers.
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS at CINCINNATI BENGALS: AFC team over NFC team. Root for the Bengals.
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS at DETROIT LIONS: The Lions have serious bounce-back potential this season. Best for them to lose here before they pick up a lot of wins from the league’s easiest schedule. Root for the Saints.
ATLANTA FALCONS at PITTSBURGH STEELERS: AFC team over NFC team. Also, the Eagles play the Steelers later this season. With the hope that the Eagles will beat them, you want the Steelers to have as good of a record as possible to help boost Philly’s strength of victory tiebreaker. Root for the Steelers.
ARIZONA CARDINALS at LOS ANGELES CHARGERS: The lowly Cardinals (with their projected win total at 3.5 games) do not pose a threat to the Eagles in the NFC. The Eagles play the Cardinals this season. With the hope that the Eagles will beat them, you want the Cardinals to have as good of a record as possible to help boost Philly’s strength of victory tiebreaker. Root for the Cardinals.
GREEN BAY PACKERS at MINNESOTA VIKINGS: There’s a case to be made the Packers are the bigger threat, though these teams might be more evenly matched. Green Bay has the more favorable Super Bowl odds and I think the Eagles would rather see Kyler Murray in the playoffs than Jordan Love. Root for the Vikings.
WHAT’S LEFT
BUFFALO BILLS at HOUSTON TEXANS: The Eagles play the Texans this season. With the hope that the Eagles will beat them, you want the Texans to have as good of a record as possible to help boost Philly’s strength of victory tiebreaker. Root for the Texans.
BALTIMORE RAVENS at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: The Eagles play the Colts this season. With the hope that the Eagles will beat them, you want the Colts to have as good of a record as possible to help boost Philly’s strength of victory tiebreaker. Root for the Colts.
CLEVELAND BROWNS at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: The Eagles play the Jags this season. With the hope that the Eagles will beat them, you want the Jags to have as good of a record as possible to help boost Philly’s strength of victory tiebreaker. Root for the Jaguars.
NEW YORK JETS at TENNESSEE TITANS: The Eagles play the Titans this season. With the hope that the Eagles will beat them, you want the Titans to have as good of a record as possible to help boost Philly’s strength of victory tiebreaker. Root for the Titans.
MIAMI DOLPHINS at LAS VEGAS RAIDERS: No Eagles impact but could be fun to cheer on Nakobe Dean.
DENVER BRONCOS at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS: No Eagles impact but could be good to see the Chiefs fail to build momentum early in the season.
