A standout matchup for the New Orleans Saints in 2026 is against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to the number of storylines. For the first time, NFL teams will be playing in Paris, and with the Saints holding exclusive international rights in France, they were able to participate in this game. Then, Kellen Moore is going up against his former colleague (and arguably rival) Mike McCarthy, who was hired as the Steelers’ HC this offseason.
I personally named the Saints vs. Steelers matchup as my favorite this season, and it just got even better. Recently, it was announced that QB Aaron Rodgers would be returning to Pittsburgh for another season, and shortly after, he revealed it would be his last in the NFL.
Rodgers is turning 43 years old this season and is nowhere near the QB he once was. The hope in Pittsburgh is that recreating the Rodgers-McCarthy partnership could create a perfect scenario for the offense to succeed and perform in the playoffs. It’s not like this team was bad last season; they made the playoffs and won 10 games. What happened in the playoffs was the issue.
If the Steelers are going to be a playoff team again, and Rodgers will have added motivation given that this is his last season, the Saints may face a tougher challenge.
Looking at Rodgers’ overall record against the Saints, he has beaten them 4 times, but lost 3. One of those games was when Rodgers was still the backup to Brett Favre, and in that matchup, Rodgers only threw one pass. If we remove that game, which makes sense given his limited impact, Rodgers’ record against the Saints would actually be 3-3. So now, the Paris game will determine if Rodgers has a career losing or winning record against the Saints.
