Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley expects to play in the Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, according to a report from the Inquirer’s Jeff McLane.
Additionally, NFL insider Mike Garafolo reports that “all checked out OK” for Barkley in the aftermath of his Week 2 stinger injury.
Barkley originally got hurt on the Eagles’ first offensive snap during last weekend’s win over the Tennessee Titans. He briefly re-entered the game in the third quarter before watching the rest of the action from the sideline.
Barkley, sporting a neck roll, was spotted warming up for the Eagles’ Thursday practice:
We’ll find out the extent to which he practiced (full or limited) when the Eagles issue their injury report later on Thursday.
The Eagles’ ground game has struggled so far this season. Having Barkley available is preferable to the alternative but there’s no guarantee the Eagles will be able to run on the Bears. We’ll see how that goes.
In other injury news:
- DeVonta Smith warmed up for practice without pads, which suggest he’s not participating in Thursday’s practice. Perhaps the Eagles are managing his workload to help get him to Monday.
- Tank Bigsby did not participate in Thursday’s practice. He took the most carries (13) after Barkley got hurt in Week 2, though Will Shipley logged more snaps than Bigsby did despite taking six fewer carries.
Again, we’ll find out more when the Eagles issue their injury report later today.
