New Orleans Saints legend and ALS advocate Steve Gleason is once again showing his support for fellow former NFL star Chris Johnson, who recently revealed his own ALS diagnosis.
Alongside New Orleans author Brian Jeansonne, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2020, Gleason took the challenge on Wednesday, with Jeansonne posting the video on Instagram.
The Ice Bucket Challenge first became a massive viral social media campaign back in 2014. It involves dumping a bucket of ice water over a person’s head with the purpose of raising awareness and funds for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
The Ice Bucket Challenge has recently seen a huge revival led by Chris Johnson following the public announcement of his 2025 ALS diagnosis on Good Morning America last month.
Stece Gleason is no stranger to the Ice Bucket Challenge as he championed the campaign in 2014, which ultimately went on to raise over $220 million.
Gleason and Jeansonne have also challenged former and current Saints quarterbacks Drew Brees and Tyler Shough as well as John Driskell Hopkins from the Zac Brown Band, professional wrestler Rebel Brooks, former UFC Champion Dustin Poirier and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to participate.
Shough has since accepted the challenge on Instagram.
