Former UFC flyweight star Muhammad Mokaev seemed to finally shut the door on a potential reunion with his former promotion.
Despite an undefeated run in Mixed Martial Arts, Muhammad Mokaev was released by the UFC following a win over Manel Kape at UFC 304. Mokaev had difficult relationships with the UFC matchmakers and CEO Dana White, which led to his abrupt departure from the promotion.
Before his release, Mokaev was on the verge of a potential title shot, a path cut short despite wins over the likes of Tim Elliott and Charles Johnson. Since parting ways with the UFC, Mokaev remains unbeaten with victories in Brave CF and 971 FC.
Mokaev’s social media presence has skyrocketed after his UFC departure, and he’s repeatedly pleaded with the matchmakers to give him another shot. But Mokaev’s post-UFC 304 departure came at a time when there wasn’t a strong second player in Mixed Martial Arts.
Muhammad Mokaev touts Jake Paul’s MVP MMA as ‘the future’ in apparent UFC pursuit reversal
Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions debuted its first MMA event earlier this year, headlined by UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano.
In a recent tweet, Mokaev praised MVP MMA as the potential future king of the sport.
“MVP x PFL is the future!” Mokaev tweeted.
After one fan asked Mokaev if he still wants to pursue a UFC reunion, the former flyweight standout seemed to shut down his pursuit.
“Don’t care, brother,” Mokaev responded.
For the first time since the Kape fight, Mokaev seems uninterested in a return to the UFC. He hasn’t made a combat sports appearance since a Hype FC grappling match against UFC lightweight Arman Tsarukyan earlier this year.
As of this writing, nothing is formally in the works for Mokaev’s next MMA fight. But once MVP MMA goes full-time in 2027, don’t be surprised if Mokaev is a major part of their plans.
