Joaquin Buckley isn’t harboring negativity after suffering a highlight reel knockout loss this past Saturday.
Buckley and Mike Malott headlined UFC Edmonton this past Saturday inside Rogers Place. Many felt this one could come down to the wire, but Malott ended the fight in the second round with a superbly timed knee to Buckley’s jaw. It’s the first time “New Mansa” has suffered a knockout defeat since late 2022.
In the aftermath of UFC Edmonton, Buckley hopped on Instagram Stories to deliver a positive message amid the defeat (via MMAJunkie).

“There was a lot of expectation for me to go and knock Malott out. People enjoyed the show, at the end of the day I brought more eyes to the game. Regardless of what people say I’ll just get back to work” pic.twitter.com/THMrzWEQwj

“The fight didn’t go my way – not at all,” Buckley said. “There was a lot of expectations for me to go out there and knock Malott out. But at the end of the day, people were entertained, people enjoyed the show, and I truly believe what I did, at the end of the day, it helped bring more eyes to the game.
“Regardless of what people say, what’s going on, I’m just going to get back to work and keep putting on for the name: ‘I Am Joaquin Buckley.’ It’s my Kick channel. I’m not going to stop. I’m going to keep moving forward. … At the end of the day, I’m a fighter that fights. There are some other things I’m going to get into that I think are really going to help my content … so go follow me, man. For real.”
It’s a rough setback for Buckley, who has now dropped three straight bouts. Buckley had been gaining some steam in the welterweight division all the way up to late 2024 when he stopped Colby Covington.
After riding a six-fight winning streak, Buckley suffered losses against former UFC welterweight titleholder Kamaru Usman, Sean Brady, and now Malott.
