ROONEY ATHLETIC CENTER IN MARYLAND
The Steelers and Baltimore Ravens have one of the NFL’s best rivalries. While the Ravens are still a relatively young NFL franchise, they established themselves quickly. Baltimore and Pittsburgh often battle for AFC North supremacy, with both teams always aiming to compete for a Super Bowl.
However, the Steelers still have a presence in Ravens country. The Baltimore Sun shared on Twitter that Mount St. Mary’s University recently broke ground on the Rooney Athletic Performance Center. The Rooneys have owned the Steelers since their inception, and members of the family gave Mount St. Mary’s $6 million a few years ago. Maybe that will help create more Steelers fans in Maryland.

STEELERS AT YOUNGSTOWN STATE
This year’s draft was important for the Steelers for multiple reasons. Not only did they have a lot of picks, but they also hosted the event. It went great, with all 10 of their draft picks making the team’s initial 53-man roster. That’s a credit to the work their front office did in the scouting process.
That group’s work is almost never done, either. NFL teams have to start scouting early. That includes the Steelers, who recently had a presence at Youngstown State, as the team posted on Twitter. Youngstown State isn’t the biggest program in college football, but it could still produce NFL talent.
FORMER SCOUT ON TOMLIN
Mike Tomlin shocked many when he stepped down as the Steelers’ head coach this offseason. He held that job for almost 20 years, but he felt like it was time to walk away. While Tomlin had some issues near the end of his tenure in Pittsburgh, he still inspired many.
That includes former Steelers scout Dave Petett. Petett was with Pittsburgh for 20 years, but he parted ways with the team in 2024. He recently appeared on Stillriver Deep Dive’s YouTube channel, and he shared the best piece of advice that Tomlin gave him, that being to get comfortable being uncomfortable. That was one of Tomlin’s favorite phrases, and they’re good words to live by.
