Former UFC featherweight champion and MMA pioneer Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino wants to return to the Octagon for a legendary rematch.
Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino seems open to postponing her retirement plans to potentially save an upcoming major UFC event.
Justino most recently defeated former UFC standout Ketlen Vieira at PFL Tampa just two weeks ago. In what was expected to be her final Mixed Martial Arts fight under the Professional Fighters League banner, Justino put on a standout performance against one of women’s MMA’s seasoned contenders.
While Justino didn’t commit to retirement immediately after PFL Tampa, she hinted that it was more likely than not to be her next move. Justino, 41, has also competed in boxing matches in recent years and could potentially continue competing in the ring.
Before joining Bellator in 2019, Justino won the inaugural UFC women’s featherweight title by defeating Tonya Evinger at UFC 214. The UFC’s women’s featherweight division was recently shut down after Amanda Nunes’ retirement.
But the division could resurface for one night if Justino and Nunes sign the dotted line.
Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino calls for shocking UFC return to ‘save’ UFC 332 card
UFC 332 in Salt Lake City is quickly approaching without a main event announced for the card. The event was rumored to be headlined by Valentina Shevchenko vs. Natalia Silva, before Shevchenko reportedly suffered an injury that thwarted the booking.
Now, with UFC 332 just weeks away, Justino wants to run it back with Nunes to headline the promotion’s return to Salt Lake City.
In a recent tweet, Justino called out Amanda Nunes for an all-legends rematch at UFC 332.
“Amanda Nunes. Tired of waiting for Kayla Harrison?” Justino tweeted Tuesday.
“Feel like saving a UFC event?”
As of this writing, Nunes hasn’t responded to Justino’s callout. After retiring at UFC 289, Nunes was scheduled to return at UFC 324, before Kayla Harrison withdrew.
As the UFC matchmakers continue to scramble to find a main event for UFC 332, Justino seems game to return to the Octagon for a legendary clash.
