The fights were back in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 124 event, and four fighters wound up taking home performance bonuses.
This evening’s fight card was headlined by a highly anticipated heavyweight bout between Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Johnny Walker. The contest proved to be a wild back and forth affair. Walker was able to get off to a strong start with some heavy low kicks, but Cortes-Acosta eventually found his range and was able to score a knockdown later in the opening round. While round two was a better round for ‘Salsa Boy’, that didn’t stop Walker from coming back and scoring an unorthodox finish midway through round three.
UFC Vegas 124 was co-headlined by a pivotal women’s strawweight bout between perennial division contenders Tatiana Suarez and Virna Jandiroba. The contest resulted in a decision victory for Suarez, who utilized her strong grappling to outpoint the Brazilian. The win marked Tatiana’s third in a row.
Following the conclusion of tonight’s event, UFC officials announced at the post-fight press conference that 4 fighters would be taking home performance bonuses.
