Alexander Volkanovski believes Movsar Evloev is a great matchup for him, despite him being undefeated.
Volkanovski is set to defend his featherweight title in the main event of UFC 333. Heading into the fight, Volkanovski is a -105 underdog, while the challenger is the slight -115 favorite on FanDuel.
Although the oddsmakers believe this will be a tough fight for the champ, Volkanovski disagrees. Instead, he believes this is one of the easiest fights he has.
“I think he’s the best outside myself,” Volkanovski said on UFC on Paramount+. “I think he beats everyone else in the division. But when it comes to matchup stylistically, I believe (he is) one of the better matchups for me. I look at him being a bad matchup for everyone else except for me. I look at other fighters that probably got more of a threat (against me).
“He’s more well-rounded; he’s got a lot more tools, a lot more things he can do, but all these other things that give so many other people problems, they just don’t give me any problem.”
Evloev is super well-rounded and poses some problems on the ground, but Volkanovski isn’t worried about it.
Alexander Volkanovski believes he’s better everywhere
Part of the reason why Volkanovski is so confident is due to the fact that he believes he’s better everywhere.
Volkanovski also knows he’s hard to beat for 25 minutes, which makes the bout a difficult one for Evloev, who isn’t known as a finisher.
“To try and beat me for 25 minutes is a pretty hard task,” Volkanovski said. “… I just don’t think anyone can beat me for 25 minutes. I know that’s his usual path to victory. It’s just not happening with me. I truly do believe that. I’ve got a lot of respect for him, I’ve got a lot of respect for his skills, but them skills just aren’t effective for me. They’re effective for everyone else, just not me.”
Who do you think will win, Alexander Volkanovski or Movsar Evloev?
