Wang Cong is looking to cement herself as a household name at UFC 332.
Cong is set to headline the numbered event in Utah against Natalia Silva for the vacant women’s flyweight title. Valentina Shevchenko vacated the belt due to an injury, which opened the door for Cong and Silva to headline the event for the vacant belt.
Heading into the fight, Cong is the underdog, but she has full confidence in herself. Cong believes her striking is better than Silva which will lead to a stoppage win.
“I think my opponent Natalia, is the toughest I’ve ever faced in the UFC. Her ranking say’s it all. She’s great at managing distance and kicking. When it comes to her legwork i think she’s particularly smart,” Cong said on the UFC 332 Countdown. …
“Whatever she does, I can adapt. So I will definitely outstrike her on the feet. I think I control the fight better. I’m calmer and more composed. The main thing is to fight smart, and secure the win, and during the rounds, of course, if she gives me an opening, I’ll definitely finish her.”
Silva is no doubt the toughest test of Cong’s career, and finishing her won’t be easy. But if she does, it would be a statement win for Cong and solidify her as the true champion.
Cong is 10-1 as a pro and is 5-1 in the UFC. She’s coming off a decision win over Tracy Cortez, which was the biggest win of her career to really cement herself as a title contender at flyweight.
