Reinier de Ridder UFC celebration

The Octagon returned to California for tonight’s UFC Sacramento event, and Reinier de Ridder was the top earner in regard to disclosed fighter salaries.

De Ridder (22-4 MMA) returned to his former division of light heavyweight this evening for a main card matchup opposite Roman Dolidze. ‘RDR’ ultimately made quick work of his opponent, scoring a first-round TKO finish (see that here) just four minutes into the fight. For his efforts, ‘The Dutch Knight’ took home $360,000 ($180,000 show + $180,000 win), while the Georgian pocketed $180,000 in defeat.

UFC Sacramento was headlined by a key middleweight matchup pitting Anthony Hernandez against Gregory Rodrigues. The bout proved to be a grueling back and forth affair. Rodrigues got off to a strong start in the contest, battering the lead leg of Hernandez which led to multiple knockdowns over the first two rounds. However, ‘Fluffy’ was able to storm back in round three and it appeared that the momentum was shifting in his favor headed into the final two rounds. Unfortunately for the hometown favorite, ‘Robocop’ seemingly caught a second wind in round four and proceeded to continue his onslaught of heavy right hands and low kicks during that five-minute stretch. After an entertaining fifth and final round, Gregory Rodrigues was awarded a much deserved unanimous decision win from the judges in attendance.
