HOW TO READ THE MAP

Four quarterback-and-roster combinations

Each part of the map describes a different relationship between
the quarterback situation and the supporting roster.

QB AND ROSTER IN PLACE

Ready to Make Noise

QB Stability reaches 80.0 and Roster Strength clears the
league midpoint. These teams have a strong enough
quarterback situation and roster to support a playoff run.

ROSTER AHEAD OF THE QB

A Quarterback Away

Roster Strength clears the midpoint, but QB Stability
remains below 80.0. The roster can compete, but the
quarterback situation limits how far they can go.

QB CARRYING THE LOAD

QB on an Island

QB Stability reaches 80.0, but Roster Strength remains below
the midpoint. The quarterback has far too much on his shoulders,
as the rest of the roster asks him to cover too many holes.

BOTH SIDES NEED HELP

QB Stability is below 80.0 and Roster Strength trails the
league midpoint. These teams need a better quarterback
answer, more help across the roster or both.

Ready to Make Noise

The reigning champs own the strongest quarterback-and-roster
combination on the current map. Sam Darnold gives the
offense a dependable quarterback who can manage a game, while the roster does not need him
to carry every game by himself.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba gives Seattle a clear No. 1 weapon.
Devon Witherspoon, Leonard Williams and the defense give
Mike Macdonald one of the best defenses in the league. The run game
and offensive line still matter, but the Seahawks have
fewer major holes than almost anyone else on the chart.

Seattle sits above the 80.0 benchmark in QB Stability and
well above the league midpoint in Roster Strength. The
Seahawks have a strong enough quarterback situation and
roster to support a playoff run.

A Quarterback Away

Pittsburgh has enough around the quarterback to make things
interesting. T.J. Watt and the pass rush give the defense
a real identity, while newly acquired Michael Pittman Jr. strengthens a
receiving group that needed another dependable target.

The question is how much Aaron Rodgers has left and whether
he can stay healthy through a full season. The Steelers
upgraded their short-term passing options, but the entire
offense still depends on an older quarterback with limited mobility.

Pittsburgh clears the roster midpoint, but QB Stability
remains below the 80.0 benchmark. The Steelers have a roster
that can compete. The quarterback situation still decides
how far they can go.

Jayden Daniels gives Washington the kind of quarterback
advantage that can change an entire season. His mobility,
deep-ball ability and connection with Terry McLaurin make
the Commanders dangerous whenever the game turns into a
shootout.

The roster still puts too much pressure on him though. Washington added several defensive additions in the offseason. They need to deliver as Daniels
needs a more dependable defense. Keeping Daniels healthy
becomes even more important when the team cannot control a
game defensively.

Washington clears the QB Stability benchmark but remains
below the roster midpoint. The Commanders have their answer
at quarterback. Now they need the rest of the team to give
him a larger margin for error.

Swing Factor
Offensive execution

Jacksonville is one of the most important teams near the
middle lines because they have the pieces to contend.
Trevor Lawrence has Brian Thomas Jr. and Jakobi Meyers
around him, while Liam Coen has enough offensive talent to
create favorable matchups.

Now the Jaguars have to finish plays. Dropped passes and
offensive-line inconsistency can ruin an offense that
depends on timing. Josh Hines-Allen gives the defense a
proven difference-maker, but the offense has to become more
dependable from one week to the next.

Jacksonville is close enough to both dividing lines that a
real step forward from Lawrence and the offense could move
the entire team into a much stronger position.

Cam Ward is a young quarterback worth building
around. The problem is how much still has to be built.

Offensive-line and receiver depth leave Ward with a smaller
margin for error. The hope is that the 4th overall pick, Carnell Tate becomes the weapon they envision.
Jeffery Simmons is an all-pro, but one defensive star cannot cover every weakness
across the roster.

Tennessee remains below both dividing lines. The Titans
need Ward to develop, but they also need enough help around
him to make that development possible.
