Sue Bird getting real about retirement will tear you up.

Sue Bird has given all of herself to WBNA for as long as we can remember but at the end of the season, she’ll be riding off into the sunset for good.

We still have her for a bit, but at a press conference on Thursday the star got emotional talking about her final season and honestly, we don’t blame her.

“I feel like I’ve played as long as I can at a really high level, both physically and mentally. It’s just gotten harder,” she said.

Sue Bird gets real and emotional with the media when speaking about retiring after this season.

Bird announced her retirement on Twitter.

“I’ve decided this will be my final year. I have loved every single minute, and still do, so gonna play my last year, just like this little girl played her first.”
