The Chargers and working again Austin Ekeler have agreed to a deal that may see Ekeler play out the ultimate 12 months of his contract in Los Angeles.
Ekeler and the Chargers agreed to revise his contract so as to add near $2 million in incentives this season, in accordance with Adam Schefter of ESPN.
There’s no phrase on what Ekeler has to do to earn these incentives, however he’s apparently happy that it’s one thing doable, and the crew now has a contented camper.
Ekeler hadn’t been taking part in voluntary offseason work and had indicated he’d just like the crew to commerce him someplace that he’d receives a commission extra. Ekeler is due a $6.25 million base wage this season, and now he can earn incentives on prime of that.
Realistically, given the best way the working again place has been devalued within the NFL, it appears unlikely that Ekeler was going to get a greater deal anyplace else. And so he’ll play out the 2023 season for the Chargers and hope to play effectively sufficient to money in as a free agent in March.
