Alabama males’s basketball coach Nate Oats issued an apology Tuesday night time concerning statements he made after it was revealed Crimson Tide participant Brandon Miller allegedly offered the gun used within the taking pictures loss of life of a 23-year-old lady in January.
Oats mentioned his feedback “got here throughout poorly” and that “by no means did I intend to downplay the seriousness of this case or the tragedy of that night time.”

The top coach had told reporters Miller was “not in any hassle.”
“We knew about that,” Oats mentioned. “Cannot management all the pieces anyone does exterior of follow. No person knew that was going to occur. School children are out. Brandon hasn’t been in any kind of hassle neither is he in any kind of hassle on this case. Unsuitable spot on the improper time.”
Carol Robinson of AL.com reported Detective Branden Culpepper of the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Workplace testified Tuesday that Miller introduced the gun after former Alabama participant and teammate Darius Miles texted him and requested him to carry it to his location.
Culpepper mentioned when Miles informed Michael Davis, the opposite defendant, that “the warmth is within the hat” and “there’s one within the head” after Miller arrived, it meant there was a gun current with one spherical within the chamber.
The testimony occurred as a part of a preliminary listening to for Miles and Davis, who’ve been charged with capital homicide within the killing of Jamea Harris.
Tuscaloosa County chief assistant district legal professional Paula Whitley was requested by AL.com why Miller wasn’t charged and mentioned: “That is not a query I can reply. There’s nothing we may cost him with.”
Miller, a high NBA draft prospect, stays with the staff and has appeared in all 27 video games. He leads the Crimson Tide with 18.7 factors per sport.
