Josh Hokit has many convinced he will become the next UFC heavyweight champ and that includes a BKB 61 that he has ties to. The combatant in question is Jackie Cataline, who will battle on the same day as Hokit, albeit in another combat sport. On November 14th, as Hokit battles Ciryl Gane at UFC 334 for the heavyweight crown, Cataline will battle Hatice Özyurt at BKB 61 on the same day.
The two have shared history when they bookended Bellator 300, with Cataline winning her post-lim fight which closed out a night that featured names like Cris Cyborg and Liz Carmouche. On the other side of this aisle, Josh Hokit made his MMA debut in victorious fashion during the kickoff preliminary bout. After quipping about how wild it is to see what things have developed into for both since that night in San Diego, Cataline said [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],
“Yeah, it’s funny. We’re actually sponsored by one of the same peptide companies. We went to Mr. Olympia together. It was my first time like interacting with him and meeting him. Really cool guy. Yeah, it’s definitely crazy to see where people have started and where they’re at now and where they’re going to go. To follow people’s careers and get to know people and the people that you meet on this journey is crazy. So, I’m enjoying every minute of it.”
Josh Hokit “absolutely” “takes that fight” at UFC 334, per BKB 61 standout
When asked if she thinks Josh Hokit will hear the words “and new…” echo out inside the hallowed halls of Madison Square Garden in the coming days, Cataline stated [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],
“Yeah, absolutely. I think he takes that fight.”
Also of note, fellow BKB standout Cody East mentioned on Bare Knuckle Bowker that he was recently been training under bare knuckle rules with Josh Hokit. So the idea of the controversial heavyweight someday dropping the gloves isn’t so far out of the realm of possibility.
