The Philadelphia Eagles are waiving Jakorian Bennett, as noted by the NFL’s November 3 personnel notice.

The Eagles previously opened Bennett’s 21-day practice window to return from injured reserve on October 14. The team was coming up on the deadline to either 1) activate him to the roster or 2) shut him down for the remainder of the 2026 season.

Instead, the Eagles chose door No. 3 and waived him from IR to apparently allow him to catch on with a new team. Or perhaps he could return to Philly on the practice squad if he does land elsewhere?

Finding themselves in need of corner help, the Eagles originally acquired Bennett in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders last summer. There was hope the 2023 fourth-round pick might be able to contribute but he ended up logging just 98 defensive snaps (69 of which came in Week 18 last year with the Eagles resting starters) and 58 defensive snaps in 2025.

Bennett began the 2026 season on IR after getting injured in the preseason. Had he stayed healthy, he might’ve pushed for the top backup outside cornerback role that has instead been claimed by veteran Jonathan Jones. But with Jones recently getting hurt and being a 33-year-old playing on a one-year deal, it could’ve made sense to put Bennett in that role instead. He could’ve even been in line to see starting snaps with the Eagles potentially set to move Riq Woolen ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

Instead, Bennett is gone.

Meanwhile, the Raiders are still utilizing Thomas Booker IV, whom the Eagles gave up to get Bennett. Booker logged the third-most defensive tackle snaps for Las Vegas last year and the fourth-most so far this season.

OTHER NEWS:

The Eagles also released wide receiver Quentin Skinner from the practice squad after originally signing him last week.
