UFC welterweight contender Gabriel Bonfim broke his social media silence after Sean Brady abruptly withdrew from their main-event fight.

UFC welterweight star Gabriel Bonfim’s third consecutive main event booking fell apart just days before the event. Bonfim and Sean Brady were supposed to headline UFC Vegas 124 next weekend at the Apex, before Brady withdrew earlier this week due to injury.

As of this writing, it’s unclear whether Bonfim vs. Brady will be rescheduled for a later date or whether Bonfim will face another opponent during Brady’s absence. Bonfim is riding a five-fight winning streak and could potentially be a fight away from a title shot.

Despite Brady’s revelation about the severity of his injury, Bonfim was left befuddled by his withdrawal from UFC Vegas 124.

Gabriel Bonfim ‘can’t really understand’ Sean Brady fight cancellation

In a recent Instagram post, Bonfim reacted to Brady’s abrupt pullout from the UFC Vegas 124 main event.

“As some of you already know, my fight was canceled,” Bonfim said.

“Sean Brady is out of the fight. He says he got injured. A week before the fight, he tells us he got injured. You can’t really understand it, right? But God knows all things and we keep moving forward. And on Nov. 7th I won’t be fighting, unfortunately.

“Unfortunately, I won’t be fighting. But I believe there will be news coming soon and we keep going,” Bonfim continued. “The goal is just one: to be champion, and we keep pushing. Thanks, thanks everyone, appreciate it.” (h/t MMA Junkie)

Brady hasn’t fought since defeating Joaquin Buckley by unanimous decision at UFC 328 earlier this year. Bonfim’s last win came against former titleholder Belal Muhammad in June.

As the welterweight title mix marches on during Islam Makhachev’s absence, Bonfim and Brady will look to make statements in their next fights.
