A short time before training camp opens up for the Dallas Cowboys, we do have some roster related news.
The NFL announced that reserve defensive edge rusher Charles Snowden has been suspended for the first three games of the NFL season. He arrived to the Cowboys after three seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. His suspension likely stems from a DUI arrest in Las Vegas back in 2024. Snowden, an alumnus of UVA, has totaled 4.5 sacks in his NFL career with a career-best three of them in 15 games with the Raiders in 2025.
Snowden’s length at 6’6” and his athleticism made him an attractive option to bring into the fold for the Cowboys who are putting an emphasis on creating more pressure off the edges this season. The news of the suspension is a step back for Snowden.
Snowden faces an uphill climb to get reps as the Cowboys have added more help to the position this offseason. The Cowboys have Sam Williams and LT Overton vying for reserve roles alongside Snowden. Surely the Cowboys were expecting some form of discipline when acquiring the veteran by having knowledge of the incident from a few years ago. Although he won’t be eligible to play in the beginning of the regular season, Snowden has all of training camp and the preseason to make an impression on Christian Parker and the Cowboys defensive staff.
