UFC bantamweight contender Cory Sandhagen broke his social media silence after UFC 329 and showed off a brutal injury.
Cory Sandhagen lost to former rival Mario Bautista in their UFC 329 rematch on Saturday in Las Vegas. After appearing to have suffered a nasty leg injury early in the fight, Sandhagen went the distance with Bautista but fell short on the scorecards by unanimous decision.
UFC 329 marked Sandhagen’s first fight since a lopsided defeat to then-bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 320 last year. His most recent victory came against former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC Des Moines in May 2025.
After outpointing Bautista in their first fight, Sandhagen looked off from the get-go at UFC 329, likely due to the injury he suffered in the early minutes. Despite the loss, Sandhagen is keeping his spirits high, but he shared a graphic image of a potentially torn hamstring.
Cory Sandhagen shows off brutal injury suffered in Mario Bautista loss
In a recent Instagram post, Sandhagen showed off a potentially torn hamstring suffered in his fight at UFC 329, along with his first post-fight remarks.
“Frickin bummer man. Losing in fighting is the most embarrassing thing ever. Sucks. Pretty sure the knee bar tore my hamstring in the first (getting MRI this week). It kept locking out weird if I did certain things. So that kind of messed up my game plan,” Sandhagen said.
“Congrats to Mario. He was well prepared. 1st was close but he won it with that knee bar. 2nd, I won (surprisingly cause leg was jacked). 3rd, I wanted to have the same round as before but got dropped. Gotta fight near perfect to win at the top. Something I need to get better at.
“Appreciate the love from you guys. Enjoy your week. Love you. Peace.”
