Earlier this week, New Orleans Saints legend Steve Gleason and New Orleans author Brian Jeansonne took the Ice Bucket Challenge to show their support for former NFL RB Chris Johnson, who like Gleason and Jeansonne is also battling ALS.
Gleason then challenged Saints quarterback Tyler Shough among others to also participate, in which Shough quickly accepted via Gleason and Jeansonne’s posts on Instagram.
On Thursday afternoon, Shough posted a video on his social media accounts featuring his dog, Murphy, as he took the Ice Bucket Challenge. After thanking Steve Gleason for nominating him, Shough passed the challenge on to his Saints teammates Juwan Johnson and Cam Jordan, along with head coach Kellen Moore.
The Ice Bucket Challenge, which first went viral in 2014 to raise awareness and funds for ALS research, has seen a major revival after Chris Johnson publicly revealed his ALS diagnosis. Although Johnson was diagnosed in 2025, he just announced it publicly last month and has since encouraged supporters to relaunch the challenge to show their support to the ALS Community and raise donations for ALS research.
