UFC Octagon announcer Bruce Buffer has been around the UFC for decades and has seen plenty of new countries.
Just recently, Buffer was in Baku, Azerbaijan, for the second time, which is a country he didn’t expect to go to until the UFC hosted an event.
So, as the UFC continues to go to new countries and markets, there are four places he’d like to see host a UFC event.
“I would like to see, obviously, Italy. I would like to see a show in Italy,” Buffer said on Just Scrap Radio on BJPENN.com. “I’d like to see the French Riviera, because I happen to love the French Riviera. I’d like to see a show in Hawaii, because I love Hawaii. Surf, then put the tux on and get to the arena. I used to do that for the Rumble on the Rock when BJ Penn and his family did the shows. I’d surf in the morning and then be in the cage by 5 o’clock. South Africa would be amazing. I think that covers it. We are pretty much hitting everywhere, unless something is escaping me, I can’t think of an area other than that.”
The locations Buffer noted make sense, especially South Africa and Hawaii, which fans have called for for years. Italy, meanwhile, would be special, as Dana White has hinted at the Colosseum in Rome.
Bruce Buffer is unsure Colosseum will happen
Although White has talked about wanting to do an event at the Colosseum, Buffer isn’t sure it will ever happen due to safety reasons.
“How do you put people in something that God knows is how many hundreds of years old or whatever it is? For a safety factor that would be a major undertaking,” Buffer said.
Regardless, Buffer is hopeful the UFC can eventually host an event in Italy among his other four picks, and he’s be in attendance as the Octagon announcer.
