George Foreman, Boxing Champion and Grill Spokesperson, Dies at 76

George Foreman, legendary boxing champion, Olympic gold medalist and spokesperson for the highly successful George Foreman Grill, has died. He was 76. The fighter’s family confirmed his death with a lengthy post on Instagram. The post reads: “Our hearts are broken. With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr.

George Foreman, legendary boxing champion, Olympic gold medalist and spokesperson for the extremely profitable George Foreman Grill, has died. He was 76.

The fighter’s household confirmed his demise with a prolonged publish on Instagram.

The publish reads: “Our hearts are damaged. With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr. who peacefully departed on March 21, 2025 surrounded by family members. A religious preacher, a loyal husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and nice grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering religion, humility, and objective.”

“A humanitarian, an Olympian, and two-time heavyweight champion of the world, He was deeply revered — a power for good, a person of self-discipline, conviction, and a protector of his legacy, preventing tirelessly to protect his good identify— for his household.”

The message concluded: “We’re grateful for the outpouring of affection and prayers, and kindly ask for privateness as we honor the extraordinary lifetime of a person we had been blessed to name our personal.”

Foreman was born in Marshall, Texas, and was raised alongside his six siblings. He skilled a troubled youth, lived in poverty and dropped out of highschool at 15 years previous. Nevertheless, he later earned his GED and sparked an curiosity in sports activities, pursuing boxing.

In 1968, at simply 19 years previous, he gained an Olympic gold medal for boxing on the Mexico Metropolis Summer season Video games. He’s fought greats like Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, José Roman and Ken Norton. He earned his heavyweight winner titles by defeating Michael Moorer and Frazier. Nevertheless, Foreman retired from the ring in 1977 after a loss to Jimmy Younger.

In 1994, Foreman began his endorsement for the George Foreman Grill. He promoted the electrical, moveable grills with traces like, “It’s a knockout.”

Two years in the past, a boxing biopic on the long-lasting fighter titled Big George Foreman was launched.

Foreman is survived by 11 of his 12 youngsters (together with his 5 sons, who’re all named George) and his spouse, Mary Joan Martelly.

Following the information of his demise, fellow boxer Mike Tyson took to X to honor Foreman. “Condolences to George Foreman’s household. His contribution to boxing and past won’t ever be forgotten,” Tyson wrote.
