NASCAR introduced Wednesday that Truck Sequence driver Conner Jones had been suspended for Friday’s race at Martinsville for intentionally crashing Matt Mills at Homestead.

Mills was hospitalized two nights for smoke inhalation after the crash. Jones bumped Mills’ truck in Turns 1 and a couple of and despatched Mills into the wall. Mills’ truck caught fireplace after the influence.

Jones, 18, mentioned in a post-race assertion that he “let my frustration get one of the best of me” and that he “underestimated the influence my actions would have on Matt, and I deeply remorse the results that adopted.”

Jones has been driving a part-time schedule for ThorSport Racing this season and was scheduled to race in Friday’s race earlier than his suspension.

Mills posted a video to social media after the crash thanking followers for his or her help and mentioned it was the “scariest state of affairs” he’s had.

Mills is operating full-time within the Truck Sequence and is twenty third within the factors standings with two races to go within the 2024 season. Friday’s race at Martinsville is the ultimate semifinal spherical race earlier than the championship race at Phoenix on Nov. 8.
